Mythic Munchers

Guide / Endgame

Zereth Mortis

Zereth Mortis is an open-area endgame zone with several parallel activities running at once — Unstable Rifts to clear, Orb Bosses to summon and fight, and materials to gather for the Doom Realm system covered in its own article. This is late-game content; come here once your normal gearing is well underway.

Unstable Rifts

Unstable Rifts spawn periodically around the zone (up to 12 active at once) — spell-click one to start it. Waves of adds spawn on a timer: Empowered Ravagers first, then Invading Riftkeepers. Killing enough Riftkeepers spawns a Wild Worldcracker, and killing enough Worldcrackers spawns a random boss — Colossal Worldeater, Deadsoul Hatcher, or Consumption. Killing that boss completes the rift.

Everyone within range when a rift completes gets

  • Death Cache Tier 2 (10-15)
  • Red Anima (1,000-3,000)
  • A flat batch of Primal materials: 300x Primal Life Essence, 250x Primal Sand, 200x Primal Water, 150x Primal Shadow
  • Rift Shards (40-100)
  • A 10% chance at a Soul Stealing Device

Completing a rift also has a 30% chance to spawn a bonus Void Portal, leading to a fight against Gryth’ax the Executioner for an extra, separate reward pool — treat this as a bonus, not something to plan around.

Orb Bosses

Seven powerful bosses can be summoned to a dedicated arena using specific Orb items, 5 of the matching Orb per summon. Bring a group — their health scales up with each additional player fighting them. Every kill pays out a real chunk of Primal materials and Red Anima on top of its unique drops:

  • Primal Orb — summons Shriekwing. Drops: 800-2,000 each of the 4 Primal materials, 100% Red Anima (2,500-4,000), 100% Death Cache Tier 2 (5-30), 20% Soul Stealing Device, 5% Eye of the Void, 3% Uber Shard Tier 2, and a guaranteed Primal Key.
  • Orb of the Elements — summons Vigilant Guardian. Drops: 880-2,200 each Primal material, 100% Red Anima (2,750-4,400), 100% Death Cache Tier 2 (6-33), 20% Soul Stealing Device, 5% Eye of the Void, 3% Uber Shard Tier 2, and a guaranteed Elemental Key.
  • Contained Sand Orb — summons Skolex. Drops: 1,012-2,530 each Primal material, 100% Red Anima (3,163-5,060), 100% Death Cache Tier 2 (7-38), 20% Soul Stealing Device, 5% Eye of the Void, 5% Uber Shard Tier 2, and a guaranteed Sand Key.
  • Orb of the Tormented Souls — summons Tormented Soul. Drops: 1,300-3,000 each Primal material, 100% Red Anima (4,000-8,000), 100% Death Cache Tier 2 (10-50), 20% Soul Stealing Device, 8% Eye of the Void, 8% Uber Shard Tier 2, and a guaranteed Tormented Key.
  • Orb of Pure Shadow — summons Dausegne. Drops: 2,000-5,000 each Primal material, 100% Red Anima (6,000-12,000), 100% Death Cache Tier 2 (50-100), 22% Soul Stealing Device, 10% Eye of the Void, 11% Uber Shard Tier 2, 5% Uber Cache Tier 2, and a guaranteed Shadow Key.
  • Orb of Chaos — summons Ol’Dum and Soulrender Dormazain together, a linked duo fight — if one dies while the other lives, the survivor can revive it, so you need to bring both down at close to the same time to finish the fight. Per-player drops on the kill: Death Cache Tier 2, Soul Fragments, Eye of the Void (80% chance), Ancient Munching Fragment, all 4 Primal materials, Red Anima, and a guaranteed Chaos Key.
  • Orb of Pure Light — summons Elysium, the toughest of the seven (health scales 80% per extra player instead of 50%). Per-player drops on the kill: a bigger version of Ol’Dum/Dormazain’s table — Death Cache Tier 2, Soul Fragments, Eye of the Void (80% chance), Ancient Munching Fragment, all 4 Primal materials, more Red Anima, and a guaranteed Holy Key.

Getting Orbs: Gryth’ax (the bonus rift boss above) has a 20% chance to drop an Orb of Pure Light. There is also a dedicated Orb Boss Cache item that, when used, hands you 10 of one random Orb type from the full set of seven — a reliable way to stock up without knowing exactly which boss you will fight next. Miser also sells 6 of the 7 Orb types directly with Rift Shards — the fastest way to top up if you are short on a specific one:

  • 25 Shards each — Orb of the Elements, Primal Orb, Contained Sand Orb.
  • 50 Shards each — Orb of the Tormented Souls, Orb of Pure Shadow.
  • 100 Shards — Orb of Chaos.

Orb of Pure Light is the one Orb Miser does NOT sell — Gryth’ax’s 20% drop chance above is your only source for it.

Spending Rift Shards with Miser: Rift Shards are Miser’s own currency, spent at his Shop. 10 Shards buys a Legendary Artifact or one of several rare mounts; 25-100 buys the 6 Orb types listed above (see exact costs per Orb); other Shop rows sell more rare mounts (like the Fractal Cypher of the Zereth Overseer) for 50-100 Shards too. Miser does not sell any weapons or armor — his Shop is mounts, Orbs, and utility items only. He also sells Miser’s Uber Extraction Device and Miser’s Gem Extractor for Uber Shards, and the Omens of Corruption for Primal Light — all separate currencies from Rift Shards, farmed elsewhere.

The bigger picture: Unstable Rifts and Orb Bosses both feed the same downstream goal — stacking up Rift Shards (to spend with Miser), Primal materials, and especially Doom Realm Keys so you can unlock a Doom Realm through Miser. Every one of the 7 Orb Bosses guarantees its own matching Key on every kill — Doom Realm Keys are not a gamble, just a matter of which bosses you farm. See “Doom Realm” in this Endgame category for what each Realm offers and exactly which Keys each one costs.
