Guide / Getting Started
Powerful Spells and Items
A short list of exceptionally strong items and spells worth deliberately hunting down. None of these are required to progress — but each one is a real, permanent power spike, and most replace or outclass something you are already using.
Da Supreme Potion! (replaces Da Potion)
Defeat Magni Azeritebeard, a hidden world boss somewhere in the Azerite-rich parts of Stormsong Valley. Killing him teaches every player nearby the spell “Da Supreme Potion!” and removes your Da Potion from your bags — it is a straight upgrade, not a separate item, and you cannot be given a new Da Potion once you have learned the spell.
Torment in a Jar
A Legendary trinket that drops from Mithae, Demon Queen, at the Shrine of the Storm. To reach her:
1. Work through the Stormsong Valley “Population Control” farming chain across all 5 tiers (The Brineworks through Port Fogtide) — each tier’s final boss kill rewards a Legendary Fragment, same as covered in “Starting Your Adventure!”.
2. Continue the follow-up quest chain from Cray Eizengard — “Whispers of Fel” leads into “An Unholy Alliance”, where Mithae herself becomes your questgiver.
3. Complete “The Heart of Corruption” — kill Drest’agath, Gryth’ax the Executioner, the Fury of N’Zoth, and The Grand Executor.
4. Once that quest is turned in, go back to Cray Eizengard and take the “Let’s finish this!” option to teleport to Mithae — you must be solo and out of combat.
Mithae drops Torment in a Jar 100% of the time and respawns every 5 minutes — but it Binds on Pickup, so a copy cannot be mailed or traded to an alt. If you want it on more than one character, each one has to make this same run and kill her themselves.
The quest that sends you to kill Mithae, “A Deceiver’s Due”, also rewards a Season 1 Boost Box — it is a huge one-time catch-up bundle: a massive dump of Reservoir Anima, Armor Vouchers, Diamonds, Shadow Essence, Legendary Fragments, Death Coin, and Corrupted Blood Essence, tens of thousands of Rum/Depleted Crystal/Special Carrot/Pointless Dagger/Legendary Talisman/Ashen Remains, 200 Soul Fragments, 20 Empowered Munching Runes, 10 Uber Cache Tier 1, a Soul of Dragonwrath, a free Deadly Alliance ring (see below), 5 Shrouded Cloth Bags, and it automatically completes any of the earlier Stormsong “Population Control” quests (900001-900020) and a few other quest chains you have not finished yet, plus teaches Da Supreme Potion! and removes Da Potion if you have not gotten that upgrade yet. It Binds on Account, so unlike most of the other items in this article, you can mail an unopened box to one of your own alts — if your main does not need the catch-up, consider sending it to an alt instead, where the boost matters more.
Agony
Obtained through Miser’s “Challenges” menu, once you have reached Wave 40 in Survival Mode (this grants the Survival Master achievement). Selecting “Survival Master’s Trial” teleports you in solo — leave your group and be out of combat first. Inside, defeat Opeth, the Survival Master, in a real boss fight (a much harder version of the Opeth you talk to normally). He guarantees an Agony drop.
Agony carries the Stat Surge passive: it converts your total secondary stats into stacks that increase your damage.
Torment Unleashed
A quest reward chain through Miser:
1. Complete “The Alchemist of Haven”.
2. Complete “Shards of Infinite Torment” — collect 20x Shard of Torment. This is what actually grants the base Torment Unleashed trinket.
3. Return to Miser and complete “Unleash the Torment!” — this is done entirely by talking to him and choosing “Unleash Torment!”, nothing to kill or gather. This step is what activates the trinket’s real power: an on-equip proc that periodically summons damaging portals near you in combat.
Once unlocked, Miser’s “Torment Unleashed Upgrades” menu lets you reroll the trinket’s Main Stat, Critical Strike, Haste, or Versatility (costing Shards of Torment each time — Main Stat costs more than the other three), plus a one-time Leech purchase. Rerolling is random within that stat’s tier range each time, not a guaranteed upgrade, so treat it as gambling toward a better roll rather than a straight purchase.
Shard of Torment is also farmed in the Doom Realm — see “Doom Realm” in the Endgame category for exactly which fights drop it.
Da Bag
A genuine 36-slot bag, not just a stat item, dropped 100% of the time from Empowered Gul’dan, an open-world boss. It comes with a long upgrade ladder (13 levels, costing Death Essence, Ancient Munching Fragments, Corrupted Blood Essence, Soul Fragments, and eventually Soul items like Drest’Agath Soul, Legendary Soul Extractor, and Soul of Kael’Thas at the highest tiers) that steadily increases a passive Health/stat bonus baked into the bag itself — the slot count stays at 36 throughout, only the passive power grows.
Deadly Alliance
A ring with a low, random drop chance from creatures in Sinfall (Revendreth) — both trash and named bosses can drop it, with tougher enemies rolling noticeably better odds than weaker ones. There is no guaranteed source or vendor for it; farming Sinfall broadly is the only way to chase it.
It also has its own upgrade path, and it is worth the effort — the material cost climbs steeply at the higher tiers, so it takes a long time to fully upgrade, but the payoff is a large Corruption Resistance bonus on top of a real item level increase, making a maxed Deadly Alliance genuinely excellent for anyone using Orb of Corruption.
On Binding: Torment in a Jar, Agony, Torment Unleashed, and Deadly Alliance all Bind on Pickup — each character that wants one has to earn it themselves. Da Bag is the one exception here: it Binds on Equip, so it can be mailed or traded to another character before it is worn.
