Orb of Corruption

Orb of Corruption is a consumable that corrupts a Weapon, Armor piece, or Ring — right-click it, then click your target item. Trinkets, Necklaces, Shirts, and Tabards cannot be corrupted, and an item that is already Corrupted or Sanctified cannot be corrupted again.

WARNING: the outcome is completely random and PERMANENT. There is no way to undo it or choose which effects you get.

The roll, every time you use one (unless you have an Omen active — see below):

  • 20% chance — BRICK: every enhancement on the item is stripped away. Only the base item and the Corrupted tag remain.
  • 40% chance — Nothing: the item becomes Corrupted, but gains no extra effects.
  • 15% chance — Minor Corruption: 1-2 random effects.
  • 15% chance — Major Corruption: 3-4 random effects.
  • 10% chance — LEGENDARY Corruption: 5-7 random effects, the best possible outcome.

Each effect is drawn from a shared pool of about 23 possible corruption bonuses — extra sockets, flat stat percentages, on-hit procs, and more. The item below rolled a Legendary-tier result: 2 extra sockets, a flat HP/stat bonus, an Infinite Star proc, and several percentage boosts, all stacked on one weapon.

Weapons also have a separate, independent 30% chance to gain Corrupted Tarecgosa Fury on top of whatever the main roll gives.

Omens remove the guesswork from your NEXT Orb use only — each is consumed on use and does not stack with another Omen. Miser (subname “Touched by N’Zoth”) sells all three for Primal Light:

  • Omen of Corruption — 100 Primal Light. Guarantees at least a Minor Corruption (skips Brick and Nothing).
  • Omen of Greater Corruption — 250 Primal Light. Guarantees at least a Major Corruption.
  • Omen of Absolute Corruption — 500 Primal Light. Guarantees the flat HP/stat bonus plus a near-certain wave of extra corruptions, heavily weighted toward extra item sockets.

Omens also drop from General Kaal and the elites in Castle Nathria Outskirts, at a very low chance, and the Rift Warden sells Omen of Absolute Corruption for 3,000 Rift Tokens.

Corruption Chisel — automatically given to every character (check your bags if you cannot find it), this removes certain enchants MOTHER applies — Expedient, Severe, Avoidant, Siphoner, Versatile, Masterful, Ineffable Truth, and Empowerment, at any of their I/II/III tiers — refunding some of the currency spent on them. Right-click it, then click the enchanted item, and pick which specific enchant to strip. It does NOT touch Orb of Corruption results at all — a Corrupted item cannot be chiseled, full stop, so there is no way to remove or reroll individual corruption effects once an Orb has been used.

Practical takeaway: a plain Orb is a real gamble — 60% of the time you get nothing or worse than nothing. If you have Primal Light saved up, an Omen (especially Omen of Absolute Corruption) turns that gamble into a near-guaranteed strong result.

Rerolling a corruption

Void Crafting rerolls the corruptions on Corrupted and Sanctified items, so a bad roll does not have to be final.
